The FIFA World Cup 2026 is finally here — the biggest tournament ever, with 48 teams playing across the USA, Canada, and Mexico all summer long. And big matches demand proper watch-party food. These air fryer mozzarella sticks are everything you want while glued to the screen: shatteringly crispy outside, molten and stretchy inside, and done in minutes so you never miss a goal.
The two secrets are double-breading and freezing — that's what keeps the cheese from bursting out in the air fryer. Make a batch before kickoff, keep a second batch breaded in the freezer, and air fry refills at halftime. Pair them with warm marinara and you've got the easiest crowd-pleaser of the whole tournament.

Instructions
- 1
Freeze the halved cheese sticks for at least 30 minutes — frozen cheese is what survives the air fryer without bursting.
- 2
Set up three bowls: flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and panko mixed with parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt in the third.
- 3
Coat each frozen stick in flour, dip in egg, roll in the panko mix — then dip in egg and panko a second time for a thick, crunchy double coat.
- 4
Freeze the breaded sticks for another 30 minutes (or up to a month in a bag — perfect for halftime refills).
- 5
Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C). Arrange the sticks in a single layer with space between them and spray lightly with oil.
- 6
Air fry for 6–8 minutes until deep golden, turning once. Serve immediately with warm marinara — and don't miss kickoff.
Notes & Tips
Don't skip either freeze — it's the difference between a cheese pull and a cheese puddle. If a stick starts leaking, pull the batch immediately; they're done. Breaded sticks keep in the freezer for a month, so you can air fry fresh batches match after match throughout the tournament.
